Photos of the Acrux, taken 7/11/02
Roll C

Disclaimer: please note that these photos were taken explicitly to show the damage to the boat, and not to enhance it's value or appearance. Therefore there is a perponderance of photos of damage, and not very many photos showing the good things of the boat. The photos were taken in a fair hurry in the rain (5 rolls--120 photos--within about an hour of time!), so the picture quality isn't the best--for which I appologize. However, they do show the problems, which is why I took them!

The other rolls:

  • Roll A
  • Roll B
  • Roll D
  • Roll E

    1. Engine compartment, looking aft (no engine). Note
peeling paint. The wood under this is protected by
    epoxy.

    2. Engine compartment hatch. The perimeter wood on this
hatch is cracked; you can see the crack just below the
    center of the photo.

    3. Engine compartment details, looking aft. Drive shaft is in
center of photo; engine mounts on either side.

Photo 4 is a lower quality duplicate of photo 3.

    5. Engine compartment, looking foreward. Electric sump pump
in lower right quadrant of photo, engine mount in center.

    6. Main cabin bilge, 3rd compartment foreward from the head.
    Looking foreward.

    7. Main cabin bilge, galley area (4th compartment foreward
from the head). Shows 5 gallon bucket (on side) that is
used for fresh water. 12 volt sump pump just below
bucket. Salt water inlet plus filter in top center of photo.

    8. Main cabin bilge, Nav table area (my shoes are on the hatch
pictured in #7). Wires are all disconnected, with the
exception of the red extention cord. Main hatch to left of photo.
Left side shows the entry step (which needs to be rebuilt).

    9. Main cabin floor, looking aft (from head). Table is to
the right, bench to the left. Galley at top, table bench in
    upper right corner.

    10. Head, looking aft (from forepeak).

    11. Lower quality duplicate of #10.

    12. In forepeak, looking aft/starboard at ceiling and upper
corner. Note peeling paint. The wood under this is not
    protected.

    13. Forepeak, looking aft into head. Note wire, which is
for a (missing) light. This is where the shower will go.

    14. Forepeak area. This is where the shower will go. Blue item
at bottom left is a 30 gallon trash container.

    15. Cockpit area, with open engine compartment. Shows hatch into main cabin. Photo is
    wide angle.

    16. Cockpit area, with open engine copmartment. looking
starboard. Also shows storage compartments (just above the center of the photo).

    17. Wheel. Note open hole on top of stand where compass is
    to go.

    18. Bow. Note the bow rail, which is bent with the far
support pulled completely off. Anchor needs rollers.
Hatch goes into forepeak; it is boarded up.

    19. Although this photo is very fuzzy, it is the only one
that shows the detail of the nav light for the port side.

    20. Deck area, foreward of the main mast and over the head
(windows in upper left open into the head). Windows into
the main cabin have been 'glassed over. Wires coming
down (center and center right) are the mast ladder. Deck
fittings (center left) are for an anchor. Wide angle photo.

    21. Port deck area, looking aft. Bottom center shows a
board (loose), bottom right (red) is a self-steering
device that hasn't ever been connected (as far as I can
determine). Shows the three hatches into the outrigger.
    Safety lines to the right.

    22. Port bow. The tip was broken off (rammed by another
boat), and has been partially repaired.

    23. Hatch into forepeak, which has been boarded up. Deck
fitting in lower left is for an anchor (same as those in
    photo 20).

    24. Aft cabin roof, looking aft. In lower center you can see
the open engine compartment hatch. Main sail boom in
middle left; mizzen mast and boom in upper center/right.
Also shows ceiling hatches into aft cabin.

    25. Slightly different view of #24.
