Miki & Julie Collins

My sisters live in the Alaskan bush, in a place called Lake Minchumina. They make their living partly by living off the land (hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening), partly by selling handicrafts (fur hats, mittens, muckluks, etc) and partly by writing & photography. They have a regular column in the Fairbanks Daily Newsminer, write regular stories for magazines and have also published three books, two that are non-fiction about their life in the bush (Trapline Twins and Riding the Wild Side of Denali : Alaska Adventures With Horses and Huskieslinks are to Amazon.com). One is a textbook on dog care for mushers called Dog Driver : A Guide for the Serious Musher.
