A Comment on Design & Location

This was originally written in 1988. Since then we have not only determined that the biosphere is to be buried underground, but we have also excavated the hole! Our location wound up on Chena Ridge, not far from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. We have decided on a cement structure, 1.75 meters (5 feet) deep at the peak. It will be a little larger than indicated in this document; a dome 13.25 meters (40 feet) in diameter enclosing about 200 cubic meters (20,000 cubic feet).
