My Library
I am crazy about books. I like to look at them. I like to hold them. I like to log them. I adore to read them.
I collect them from the far corners of the globe (India, Wales,
Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, San Fransisco, Seattle, etc. I
drag them all home to Fairbanks, Alaska and stuff them into my library,
which is a converted bedroom. For years I've played catch-up, and
never seem to have enough shelves. Every time I build more
shelves I never seem to have quite enough for all the new books I've
acquired. Pretty soon I may even outgrow the room!
In 1994 I decided I wanted to log all my books. So I hired the
room mate of my wife (note that I didn't even meet my wife until 1995!)
to help me enter the data into the computer.
I have my books broken down into three categories. Only two of
which my C++ program is capable of digesting (eventually I'll fix it so
it can digest the third as well), so only two of them are now
here. At last count I have 1,318 books entered into the
computer--and about 600 to go.
As yet I have not properly edited or reviewed the files, so there are
some mistakes (like the title to the paperback books reads "Ray's
Textbooks", not Ray's Paperbacks like it should! So pardon gaps
like this...
So here they are:
- Paperback
(mostly fiction, with a few non-fiction mixed in). Sorted by
author. About 1000 books here (more are entered, but I don't
upload the data files very often)..
- Textbooks
(these are mostly my textbooks from the University, but there are a few
other textbooks on subjects I'm interested in. Sorted by
subject/category and then by title. I have about 150 books here.
- Coming (eventually): Hardcover books (mostly fiction).
